Silverline Insulation
DIY Fitting Guidelines
Step One
Cut Silverline 0007 Insulation into manageable lengths (i.e.
3-6m) by simply rolling it out on floor, cutting and rolling up
again. Fig 2
Step Two
Take the cut rolls up through the man-hole and roll out ACROSS
ceiling joists. DO NOT place material hard against ceiling sheeting.
Step Three
Cut Silverline 0007 Insulation around any vertical timbers and
fasten any loose ends using non-metalic fasteners (Plastic
staples) used sparingly. Fig 4
Note: DO NOT pull Silverline 0007 Insulation tight – leave
some slack to make it easy to see where ceiling joists are.
(Also it gives the material movement when walked on.) Fig3
START from the outside edge where the rafter intersects with
ceiling joist. Work your most difficult area first and work back
towards man-hole. Fig 1
Handy Hints
- Use a stick (i.e. an old broom handle) to manoeuvre material into difficult areas.
- It is not necessary to make sure joints are air tight, as long as there is actual cover. (Radiation travels in a straight line.)
- Use smooth boards to kneel on. (Make sure you don’t kneel on the very end and slip off onto ceiling sheeting.)
- Fasten sparingly – just enough to locate Silverline 0007 Insulation.
- Make sure you don’t put Silverline 0007 Insulation over internal lights. Keep at least 15cm away from lights and
internal fans and fasten every few inches to prevent fan disturbing material. Cut 22cm holes around down lights.
